Brad Deutsch, Communications, Telecom & Media attorney and Managing Director of Foster Garvey’s D.C. office, was quoted in a recent Communications Daily article on FCC Chairman Brendan Carr’s request for all broadcasters in the nation to air “patriotic, pro-America content that celebrates the American journey and inspires its citizens.” The aim of Carr’s Pledge America campaign is for public media broadcasters to highlight “the historic accomplishments of this great nation from our founding to the Trump Administration today.”

“Carr’s repeated references to public interest obligations act as pressure on broadcasters to participate,” said Deutsch. If broadcasters choose not to take part in Carr’s campaign, Deutsch adds that this could “put a broadcaster at risk” of not meeting the initiative’s obligations.
