Yakub Hazzard is the chair of Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp and a nationally recognized entertainment and media litigator with decades of experience handling high-profile disputes involving intellectual property, right of publicity, privacy, profit participation, breach of contract, and complex commercial disputes. He began his career at MSK in the 1990s, developing his entertainment litigation practice as the firm was representing the Recording Industry Association of America in the Napster dispute. Hazzard has represented leading artists, studios, record labels, video game companies, and global entertainment businesses including Berry Gordy, the Ray Charles Foundation, Incubus, Weezer, NBCUniversal, Universal Music Group, Starz Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment in high-stakes matters. At NBCUniversal, his most recent role prior to returning to MSK, Hazzard oversaw all copyright, trademark and general litigation matters.
