Yakub Hazzard is the chair of Century City-based Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp, a law firm with a storied history of representing studios, record companies, and other players in the entertainment industry. Hazzard’s clients include the Ray Charles Foundation, NBC Universal, Universal Music Group, and Sony Music Entertainment. Last year, he successfully defended a major studio in an arbitration brought by an entertainment union alleging breach of a collective bargaining agreement and obtained a complete dismissal of a lawsuit seeking royalties against a major record label on statute-of-limitations grounds.
